Reach Out and Read is designed to be integrated quickly and simply into your practice.

Reach Out and Read (ROR) is the only national pediatric literacy model endorsed by the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Reach Out and Read Application Timeline
Step 1:

Identify a medical consultant and site coordinator.

Step 2:

Start your Reach Out and Read program application.

You will need to obtain a letter of support from the medical director and/or executive director of the organization.​

Start thinking about potential funding sources. Funding for books can come from multiple different sources. ROR can help you create a sustainable funding plan.

You can stop and save your application at any time! If you are stuck or need assistance, email Program Coordinator, Jillian Phillips, using the 'contact us' box below.

Step 3:

Complete your application and click SUBMIT.

Applications are reviewed the 3rd week of each month.

Step 4:

Receive a Reach Out and Read IN email with "approved to train" status.

Ensure all medical providers are listed as contacts to receive their training link.

Step 5:

A minimum of 75% of medical providers (MD, DO, NP, PA) must complete the online training!

Other staff are encouraged to complete the training as well.​

CME credit is available for the training.
​
Step 6:

Receive an email from Reach Out and Read IN once your site reaches 75% providers trained (reviewed once a month).
​
Step 7:

Establish office protocol books, promote the program, continue to fundraise, and complete progress reports 2x/year.

Receive books from Scholastic and/or All About Books.

Greet your patients newborn to 5yrs with a book and literacy advice at well care visits!
