2009 Chapter Annual Report

All AAP chapters should use this report format. The District Vice Chairpersons Committee will review all submitted reports to determine nominees for and winners of the Outstanding Chapter Awards, Awards of Chapter Excellence and the Special Achievement Awards.  The template is a Word document and can be saved and shared between the chapter president, vice president, and executive director.  The final report should be emailed to pstien@aap.org, with copies to the respective district chairperson and vice chairperson.
 

IN AAP Operational Priorities 2009-2010

1. Increase payment for providing pediatric services in Indiana (Member Value)

1.1 Organize and implement at least 2 new payment advocacy efforts

  1. Payer advocacy committee
  2. Support of national advocacy efforts

1.2 Increase access to coding and administration resources (“The Hoosier Way”)

  1. Distribute national AAP coding resources for medical home
  2. Reduce administrative burde

2. Enhance IN Chapter Infrastructure (Internal Process)

2.1 Organize and implement a systematic communication structure for chapter (spotlight on members across the state, electronic newsletter, email blasts, chapter “Smart Briefs,”etc.)

2.2 Increase chapter member involvement

  1. Explore use of technology to involve more members in meetings, other events
  2. Establish issue specific, time limited task forces
  3. Identify opportunities for member involvement (if you have 5 minutes, 1 hour, 1 day)

2.3 Increase capacity of chapter (staff and resources)

  1. Lobbyist: more vocal
  2. Executive director:  grant writing
  3. Establish a chapter foundation

3. Enhance Chapter Leadership Training and Opportunities (Learning and Growth)

3.1 Establish a chapter leadership training program

  1. Develop and utilize a succession plan for chapter leadership roles
  2. Identify curriculum/”leadership camp” for chapter members

3.2 Support the development, maintenance, and use of member advocacy skills

    1. Establish chapter advocacy training program
    2. Email list for chapter advocacy action alerts
    3. Develop resources for members to use when speaking to legislators

3.3 Support chapter members in building relationships with community leaders (other pediatric professionals, schools, legislators, etc.)
